City That Never Sleeps -NYC Part 2

Hi everyone, hope you are all doing amazing and thank you for taking the time to read this new blog post. It sure has been a minute but happy to be writing again. You know life happens, having fun and hustlin hard. Hoping to write more about my life and share some of my poems but that's for a whole other blog post. We are here to talk about my NYC trip and giving you all the deets.

Started off my year with a short trip to NYC, and due to many questions asked about my trip in the city that never sleeps; I will be giving you the full scoop and my itinerary. Before I go into details there are a few things to keep in mind when traveling to NY. Firstly, it is a 5hr flight there and 6hrs back to LAX to JFK (yeah i know..not close lol). Be prepared to walk a lot and spend $$$. We nearly walked 10 miles a day- roughly 21,000 steps. Also, very busy streets and not the cleanest city, but if you don't mind the hustle and bustle you will be good.

Starting off with arriving to JFK airport. I found JFK convenient to move around and locate baggage; and easy to get transportation to Manhattan. As far as transportation goes there are two options. Option #1: Uber from JFK to Manhattan is $100 uber ride (yikes!). Option #2: Take public transportation- The Air train. If you are up for a whole other experience and 1hr train ride to Manhattan. Subway lines are convenient and it'll save you the walk. If you are staying in Time Square you are close to most trendy spots, SoHo. Tribeca, Lower East Side area, with a 10 min uber drive or 20min train ride. Central park is Upper East side and there you will find museums: American Natural History and Metropolitan (MET). Just about anywhere in NY there are many great places to eat. I found YELP helpful locating what type of food you are craving, in your location. I'll add a full list of places I have been to below; if interested.

~Eats~
Must try Street Sausages or Hala guys (Times Square)

•Havana Central Cuban food (time square) 151 W 46th St, New York, NY 10036

•The Corner aka La Esquina--- 114 Kenmare St, New York, NY 10012

•Viva La crepe (Yelp in the area)

•Shake Shack (YOU MUST) (Yelp)

•Secara (Colombian food)--- 234 E 4th St, New York, NY 10009

•5th & Mad ---7 E 36th St, New York, NY 10016

•The Grey Dog---242 W 16th St, New York, NY 10011

•Chalait (coffee&bfast)--- 1216 Broadway, New York, NY 10001

•Two Hands (coffee&bfast)--- 164 Mott St, New York, NY 10013

Something about this city is just a whole vibe. The night life is amazing! Depending what you are into you'll find something that fits your soul, if it is electric dance music, hip-hop, reggeton, whatever makes your soul happy. We originally planned NY (spontaneously) to see one of my husbands current fav DJ Charlotte De Witte; acid techno. Event took place in Queens,NY at what seemed like a warehouse haha..at the Knockdown Center. It was just e p i c; see all the raving fun on IG: @lyfewithmad NYC 2020 Highlight. One last thing DO NOT arrive at 10-10:30pm to the club because you'll hear crickets. We learned that our first trip to NYC, and now we feel like locals. My husband and I get around the city very well; feels like our city to be in now. Listing rooftop bars and clubs I recommend below.

~Night Life~
•Le Bain---848 Washington St, New York, NY 10014

•BoomBoom room--- 848 Washington St, New York, NY 10014

•Tao (you can also have dinner there) -- 92 9th Ave, New York, NY 10011

•Up&Down---244 W 14th St, New York, NY 10011 (hard to get in)

•PHD rooftop lounge @Dream Hotel ---Dream Downtown, 355 W 16th St, New York, NY 10011 (hard to get in)

•1Oak ---453 W 17th St, New York, NY 10011

•Gansevoort park rooftop--- 420 Park Ave S, New York, NY 10016

Overall, I would recommend NYC for a good 3 to 4 day trip nothing more. Vibes are great; you'll get the occasional rude person but that's everywhere..haha! Always travel with a positive attitude and you'll get a positive outcome. I love sharing my travels to help other get out and see what is out there. Even if it's for a short time you get back feeling more inspired/refreshed than what you left. If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask me. Thank you for reading; until the next adventure.

Peace and Love- LyfewithMadxoxo
